Police stop planned car meet

Berlin police quashed an unsanctioned car meet scheduled at the Berlin Shopping Center on July 18 that had been advertised on social media.

The department learned from the shopping center property owner that the event had not been approved and requested assistance from public safety personnel. After a brief investigation, police informed the car meet organizers of the owner’s request and cited previous issues related to unsanctioned meets at that location.

The event was canceled, but officers offered guidance to the planners on how they could proceed in the future with an approved event. The department also reminded residents that anyone who had attempted to attend the canceled meet would face trespassing charges and could have had their vehicle impounded.

Police will also deploy enhanced patrols in the area. For further inquiries or updates, contact Berlin police.
