Animal Welfare Association Hosts MLK Day of Service Event

Animal Welfare Association

The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) in Voorhees Township invites residents to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a special day of service on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The event, hosted at AWA’s 509 Centennial Boulevard location, allows community members to support shelter animals while celebrating Dr. King’s legacy of service and compassion.

Participants will create toys for shelter pets and learn about ways to support animal welfare initiatives in the local community.

All ages are welcome to participate in this family-friendly event.

However, individuals under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a guardian.

To help offset the cost of supplies, attendees are encouraged to bring donations such as cat food (wet or dry), fleece or felt fabric, pipe cleaners, plastic shower curtain rings, and construction paper.

Time slots are available in 30-minute increments, and pre-registration is required.

This day of service offers a meaningful way for the community to give back while supporting animals in need.

By participating in activities like toy-making and donating supplies, residents can make a difference in the lives of shelter pets while honoring the spirit of Dr. King’s message of compassion and community care.
