Camden County Leads the Charge in GHSA Team Duals Wrestling Championships

Another exciting year of GHSA Team Duals Wrestling has wrapped up, and if you’re a fan of high school wrestling, you already know that Camden County has been on fire.

With a 43-26 win over Buford in the Class 6A championship, Camden County grabbed its 11th consecutive state title, a feat that’s starting to look downright legendary.

This victory marks Camden’s 22nd overall wrestling championship.

The team has been nearly unstoppable since 2015, and Saturday’s match proved no different.

Camden’s wrestlers—like Ryder Wilder (215 pounds), Bradley Patterson (113), and Isaac Santos (120)—stepped up in a big way, dominating the competition and leading their team to yet another crown.

Meanwhile, Creekview had a stellar weekend in Class 5A, edging out Glynn Academy 37-33 to secure its second-ever title and first since 2020.

The Grizzlies were on fire, with top performances from Aaron Campbell (150), Weston Wilkie (165), Domenic Velardez (190), and Jackson Locke (215).

Their clutch victories were a big part of why they walked away as champions this year. It was an emotional win for the team and fans as Creekview wrestlers showed the heart needed to take home the gold.

In Class 4A, it was the Cass Colonels who made their mark, beating Woodland-Cartersville 38-30 for their sixth wrestling title and third in the Team Duals division.

This was no easy win, with Cass showcasing incredible depth across their lineup.

Wrestlers like Kirecg Roe (190), John Abernathy (285), and Hayden Trimm (106) led the charge, pushing through to claim the top spot and adding another championship trophy to the school’s collection.

Jefferson has long been synonymous with wrestling, and the Dragons proved why again this weekend, overpowering Troup County 55-15 to snag their 21st-team duals title.

This victory brings Jefferson’s impressive total to 45 championships overall. With a full team effort from wrestlers like Kaden Gammon (113), Barrett Clayton (120), and Cruz Hezel (138), the Dragons showed no mercy on their way to another state championship.

In Class 2A, Rockmart held on to its reign, winning its fourth consecutive Team Duals title in dramatic fashion, defeating Lovett in a 38-38 tie-breaker.

That’s right: it came down to a forfeit, but Rockmart didn’t mind—victory is victory, and they’ve now secured 16 overall wrestling titles.

Wrestlers like Luke Clay (165) and Jake Gravitt (215) were vital in helping Rockmart continue dominating Georgia high school wrestling.

Finally, Social Circle capped off the weekend with an impressive 51-18 win over Toombs County to take home their 14th overall wrestling championship and seventh Team Duals title.

Nick Morrell (285), Gable Hargrove (106), and Cohen Hargrove (120) were key to the team’s win.

Here’s how the top teams stacked up in each class:

Class 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place 4th Place
6A Camden County Buford West Forsyth Brookwood
5A Creekview Glynn Academy South Effingham Coffee
4A Cass Woodland-Cartersville Central-Carroll Ola
3A Jefferson Troup County Lumpkin County Heritage-Catoosa

From Camden County’s unrelenting reign to the fresh triumphs of Creekview and the continued success of Cass, Rockmart, and Social Circle, it’s clear that Georgia is home to some of the best high school wrestlers in the country.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that the future of Georgia wrestling is as strong as ever.
