Fire Department presents new firehouse dog

At HTFD23, our team is not only made up of dedicated firefighters but also our lovable and mischievous firehouse dog, Blaze. Blaze has quickly become an integral part of our firehouse family, bringing smiles, laughter and a wagging tail to brighten our days. Let’s take a closer look at Blaze’s personality, quirks, and her special bond with the Hometown Heroes.

Blaze’s owner is Deputy Chief Joe Marchei and naming her was quite easy for him. With her fiery spirit and natural affinity for all things related to firefighting, the name just fit her perfectly. Joe couldn’t imagine calling her anything else.

One thing that Blaze absolutely adores is her chew toy collection, with plastic water bottles ranking high on her list of favorites. The sound of a crinkling water bottle can send her tail into a wagging frenzy, bringing happiness to all who witness her playful antics.

Blaze has her preferred spots in the firehouse where she loves to relax and observe the bustling activity. You can often find her laying in front of the front windows in the hallway, taking in the view and keeping a watchful eye on Main Street.

However, there is one thing Blaze does that can drive the staff a little crazy at times. She has a habit of ringing her bells to go outside, but instead of attending to her business, she simply wants to wander around and munch on some grass. It’s a playful quirk that keeps us on our toes and reminds us of her mischievous nature.

When Blaze behaves exceptionally well, she earns her favorite treat: fruit, especially strawberries. Watching her savor those juicy berries with pure delight is an uplifting sight that never fails to put a smile on our faces. It’s a small reward for her good behavior and a testament to her love for the sweeter things in life.

If her name hadn’t been Blaze, we jokingly say that “Trouble” would have suited her just as well. With her mischievous nature and playful spirit, she keeps us on our toes and reminds us to find joy in the little things, even in the midst of our demanding duties as firefighters.

The next time you visit HTFD23, keep an eye out for our fiery and spirited firehouse dog, Blaze. She’s always ready to greet you with a wagging tail, an infectious enthusiasm, and a reminder that sometimes a little mischief can brighten even the toughest of days.
