Mayer Takes the Helm of Camden County Mayors’ Association

On January 15, leaders from across Camden County gathered at Lucien’s Manor in Berlin for a pivotal moment in local governance: Gloucester Township Mayor David Mayer’s swearing-in as the president of the Camden County Mayors’ Association (CCMA) for 2025.

The event, held during the CCMA’s reorganization meeting, brought together mayors and officials from all 37 municipalities to foster collaboration and tackle common challenges.

As a nonpartisan organization, the CCMA has long been dedicated to regional progress, focusing on improving local government operations and enhancing community engagement.

CCMA officers serve one-year terms, with the membership nominating candidates to the executive board each year.

As president, Mayer will lead the association through key initiatives, including addressing infrastructure concerns, bolstering public safety, and exploring regional economic development opportunities.

Mayer shared that his primary goal was to foster a nonpartisan environment that would encourage collaboration and the free exchange of ideas among Camden County mayors.

He also intends to strengthen relationships with neighboring counties, such as Gloucester County, by collaborating with their mayors’ associations to share insights and best practices.

A key element of Mayer’s leadership plan is the launch of the Ideas for Results Innovation Conference, which would provide a platform for county mayors to openly discuss municipal challenges, share successful strategies, and learn from less effective approaches.

Under his direction, the association aims to strengthen partnerships with state and federal agencies, working to secure resources that will benefit municipalities.

In his new role, Mayer intends to prioritize open communication between mayors, advocate for shared services to reduce costs and address critical issues such as public safety.
