Commissioners host memorial vigil for overdose victims

Event planned to be held rain or shine.

Members of the Camden County community will gather to participate in a candlelight vigil held in remembrance of overdose victims hosted by the Commissioner Board and Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force.

The vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Remembrance and Hope Memorial located in Timber Creek Park: 236 Taylor Avenue and Chews Landing Road, Gloucester Township, N.J.

“Nearly 300 Camden County residents were lost last year to an accidental overdose,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Even after so many years fighting this disease, opioid abuse continues to ruin lives and break families apart. This annual vigil is a space where our community can come together and honor the lives of those we lost too soon.”

The Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force, created by the Commissioner Board in 2014, maintains the website www.addictions.camdencounty.com to help educate residents on the resources available to prevent and treat addiction.
