County reports eight deaths, 279 more COVID-19 cases

New daily count pushes total number of coronavirus cases in CamCo near 20,000.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday recorded eight new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 279 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 19,988 in Camden County and 615 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 3: MALE, 90s, VOORHEES
New Case 4: MALE, 80s, PENNSAUKEN
New Case 5: FEMALE, 80s, PENNSAUKEN
New Case 6: MALE, 70s, GLOUCESTER CITY
New Case 7: MALE, 70s, GLOUCESTER TWP
New Case 8: FEMALE, 70s, CHERRY HILL

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families in this most difficult of times to lose a loved one,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“We are still fighting every day to contain the spread of this virus. We have expanded testing, increased our public education efforts, and are continuing to ask that everyone make small sacrifices to protect themselves and their community. With the winter holidays just weeks away, please stay apprised of all recommendations and guidelines to keep each other safe and get us through until the first vaccines are hopefully administered at the beginning of the year.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,710 confirmed resident cases and 812 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 19,988 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 360 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 615 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
