Veteran to be honored at town hall meeting in Cherry Hill

The Commissioners will also be offering free COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots on site

The Board of Commissioners will meet in Cherry Hill for the next in a series of town hall meetings across Camden County.

“We invite all Camden County residents to attend our next town hall meeting to have their questions and concerns addressed by their elected officials,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli. “These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to voice your concerns directly to your elected officials. Additionally, the event will feature a COVID-19 vaccine clinic and a resource fair.”

During the town hall meeting, U.S. National Guard Veteran John Walsh will be honored for his service to our nation.

Walsh, who has been a resident of Cherry Hill for more than 50 years, served as part of the Illinois National Guard from 1961 to 1967 where his rank was E6. Walsh completed basic infantry training at Ft. Leonard Wood where he was awarded a Sharpshooter Rifle Badge. He was also trained in Air Defense, at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Walsh served as an administrative clerk and achieved the rank of Staff Sargent.

Walsh has been an active member of his community, volunteering for the Cherry Hill Fire Department, the local food pantry, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, and American Legion Post 372.

In addition to the town hall and service fair, the Camden County Board of Commissioners will also be offering access to COVID-19 vaccines and boosters at a pop-up clinic during the event. Nurses and public health professionals will be on site to assist anyone that has an interest in getting vaccinated.

Following the town hall meeting at 7:30 p.m. the Board of Commissioners will host a services fair featuring representatives from numerous county departments. Residents will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with staff from Constituent Services, Veterans Affairs, Senior Services, Health and Human Services, and the One-Stop Employment and Training Center just to name a few.
