The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 3,466 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 33 new COVID-related deaths which occurred between Wednesday, Jan. 19 and Monday, Jan. 24.
On Friday, the county Department of Health began providing antigen testing results. The outcomes from these tests, unlike the results from the polymerase chain reaction, (PCR) are probable positive cases. Moving forward these daily numbers will be added into our aggregated lab tested PCR metrics.
In addition to the 3,466 cases, there were 505 cases detected through antigen testing, bringing the total number of cases to 3,633. The aggregate number of confirmed positive cases in Camden County to 99,293 and 1,493 total fatalities.
The outcomes from these antigen tests, unlike the results from the polymerase chain reaction, (PCR) are probable positive cases. These daily numbers are added into our aggregated lab tested PCR metrics.
Of the 3,466 cases, 860 are among patients under 18 years old. The average age of the newly infected ranged from 35 to 39.

“This pandemic is not over, but the slight drop in cases is a hopeful sign that we’re moving in the right direction,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “But of course, I want to remind everyone to keep up with health and safety guidelines, so we don’t have another surge of cases like we saw last month. The main key to beating this pandemic is getting vaccinated and getting boosted, so please do so. All adults are eligible for booster shots and just recently, booster shots for ages 12-17 was approved by the U.S. FDA. Vaccine hours:
New operational hours at the Camden County Health Hub vaccine clinic have shifted to 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays. This includes booster shots for ages 12-17.
To date, 394,380 Camden County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 340,748 have received two doses and 151,896 have received a third dose. The county Health Department is continuing to closely track new cases of COVID-19 and information regarding the prevalence of the Omicron variant. New cases are often reassigned to other municipalities over the course of an investigation.
