As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, Interfaith Caregivers seeks to add 30 new volunteers in 30 days.
Volunteers are the engine that powers everything we do in the community. Seniors and people living with disabilities whom we serve rely on our volunteers to live independently, stay healthy, and stay connected to their community. Interfaith Caregivers’ volunteers provide rides to work, the doctor, grocery shop and companionship. Volunteers schedule the time they can give; no minimum hours are required.
Transportation is one of the most concerning issues for seniors, and more than half of all non-driving seniors do not leave their homes due to lack of transportation. Seniors who do not drive make fewer trips to the doctor and the grocery store, which leads to declining health coupled with feelings of isolation and loneliness.
Volunteers may be community members, people from out of town, or anyone who is passionate about helping those in the area. Potential volunteers will be given the option to connect with previous or current volunteers to learn about their experiences as well. What better way to respect your elders and give back to the community? We need your help!
