County sees more than 400 cases of COVID amid fears of ‘fourth wave’

The Department of Health is announcing 433 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County.

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing eight new deaths caused by COVID-19, as well as 433 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed between Saturday, March 27, and Monday, March 29. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 42,793 in Camden County today and 1,123 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 6: MALE, 80s, BELLMAWR BOROUGH
New Case 7: FEMALE, 70s, CHERRY HILL TOWNSHIP
New Case 8: FEMALE, 70s, VOORHEES TOWNSHIP

“We are extremely saddened to announce the death of eight additional members of the Camden County community, which tragically includes an infant who lost his life in January and whose death has since been attributed to COVID-19. We are keeping their families in our thoughts and prayers,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Unfortunately, this weekend continued last week’s trend of increased COVID-19 cases figures. We are hearing warnings from federal public health officials that signs of a potential fourth wave may be appearing across the country. We have not yet vaccinated enough of our population to stop this surge through shots alone. Please continue to be extremely cautious and do everything you can to protect yourself and others.”

The Department of Health is announcing 433 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

To date, 245,524 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There are 160,006 people with at least one vaccine dose, and 92,337 people who are fully vaccinated.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,329 confirmed resident cases and 1,336 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 42,793 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 460 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,123 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
