CamCo claims 139 more cases

County crosses 42,000 cases since start of pandemic more than a year ago.

The Camden County Department of Health reported on Thursday 139 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 42,202 in Camden County today and 1,115 total fatalities.

“By the fall, we expect the state of this pandemic to look very different thanks to the continued rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations, however we have to keep up the fight in the meantime,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“New spikes in European countries are forcing citizens back into lockdowns, a fate that our community can avoid if we continue to adhere to public health measures until a greater share of our population has been vaccinated. With an expected surge in vaccine availability just around the corner we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We can get there if we continue to work together.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,329 confirmed resident cases and 1,330 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 42,202 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 460 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,115 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.

Residents should call 9-1-1 during emergencies only, for those with questions or concerns related to the coronavirus, call the free, 24-hour public hotline at 2-1-1 or 1-800-962-1253, or text NJCOVID to 898-211. Residents should also download the COVID Alert NJ mobile application on their Apple or Android device where they can view the latest information regarding COVID-19 in the state and be notified of potential exposures to the virus.
