Three deaths, 281 new cases greet Camden County ahead of weekend

No let up in severity for county residents as final month of 2020 begins.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday three new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 281 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 20,848 in Camden County and 636 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 1: MALE, 90s, VOORHEES TOWNSHIP
New Case 2: FEMALE, 60s, BARRINGTON BOROUGH
New Case 3: FEMALE, 60s, PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP

“Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the community today as we learn that three additional members of our community have lost their lives to COVID-19,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“The best weapon we have in this fight is inexpensive, noninvasive, and easy to use. If we all wear a mask whenever we are around others, we can dramatically reduce the spread of this disease, and in turn the number of hospitalizations and deaths that it produces. There is still time to avoid the worst-case scenario that experts have warned of this winter, but we have to act now. Wear a mask, social distance, and avoid indoor gatherings.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,725 confirmed resident cases and 846 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 20,848 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 362 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 636 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
