The following is a release by Camden County:
Governor Phil Murphy has issued an executive order mandating that county election
boards send vote-by-mail ballots to all registered Democratic and Republican voters
ahead of the state’s July 7th primary election.
The order also requires county election boards to send vote-by-mail applications to all
unaffiliated and inactive voters and that each municipality in the state has at least one
polling place open for the primary election. At polling locations, poll workers will be required to wear masks and gloves, social distancing of at least six feet will be enforced
for voters, and protocols will be in place for the continuous sanitization of areas that are
regularly touched.
“There’s no reason to force our residents, particularly seniors and others with medical
conditions that make them more vulnerable to the coronavirus, to choose between their
health and their right to vote,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. “Voting by mail
ensures that no one has to make that choice, and we strongly encourage Camden
County residents to take advantage of the easy and convenient vote-by-mail system.”
