Testing site extends operations

New test site, originally slated to be open through mid-April, has been extended.

The COVID-19 testing site located at Cooper’s Poynt Park in Camden is extending its testing operations and will remain open until further notice, according to a release issued by the county on Thursday afternoon.

The site, operated jointly by Cooper University Health Care, Virtua Health, the Camden County Freeholder Board, and Camden County Health Department, originally was slated to operate through mid-April, but based on current projections the operations have been extended.

The Sun covered its opening last week, and the story can be found at: https://thesunpapers.com/2020/04/02/covid-19-test-site-opens-in-camden-city/

“This testing site has become an important location serving the needs of the citizens of Camden County as we work together to fight the COVID-19 outbreak,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr.

“At this crucial time, it is important that this testing facility remain open to serve the public. Utilization will be closely monitored and if the need diminishes or other patient care needs emerge, the team will reevaluate the operation of the site.”

The testing site is located at 801 Delaware Avenue in Camden City and is open Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m.

The site is open to county residents, by appointment, who have symptoms and meet other criteria, and who have received a referral for testing from a medical provider (at Cooper, Virtua, CamCare, or other provider).
