Residents encouraged to participate in broadband survey

Survey data to address areas in need of broadband eligible for grants

One of the major things that the COVID-19 pandemic revealed here in New Jersey is the role that equitable broadband access plays in our everyday lives. From telehealth appointments to online schooling and more, having high speed broadband access statewide is critically important.

To ensure that broadband has 100 percent availability statewide to all residents and businesses, the state has embarked on a mission to identify areas of New Jersey that are lacking in access.  Through an interactive web tool, residents can provide firsthand information on the availability of broadband, its cost, reliability, and competition within their communities.

“By participating in this survey, the state will be able to make the necessary upgrades to broadband to make sure that every resident of Camden County has top quality access regardless of where they live,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. “We encourage everyone in our community to log on and share their feedback so our communities can continue making progress socially, educationally and economically.”

Officials will take the data obtained from this survey and will address the areas where New Jersey lacks sufficient access to broadband. The areas that have these pitfalls will then be eligible for the expansion of broadband through use of federal and state grant programs.

Residents are encouraged to participate by visiting www.broadband-nj.com and completing the online survey.

“Please share this survey with your family and friends, the more information we obtain, the more improvements we can make,” Cappelli continued. “We will also have links to the survey posted on the county website and social media pages.”

Residents who do not have access to a home computer can take the survey from their smart phone or at their local library.
