County logs 35 new COVID-19 cases

“Even with the number of new cases much lower than it has been in recent months, we will need to increase our vaccination rate to maintain this process long term. Reaching herd immunity is our only chance at ending this pandemic once and for all.”

The Camden County Department of Health on Thursday reported 35 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 49,009 in Camden County today and 1,190 total fatalities.

“Today our team kicked off a new initiative to get students, staff, and teachers vaccinated within county schools, a crucial step in ending this pandemic and ensuring that schools can reopen fully in the fall,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“Even with the number of new cases much lower than it has been in recent months, we will need to increase our vaccination rate to maintain this process long term. Reaching herd immunity is our only chance at ending this pandemic once and for all.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

To date, 453,777 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There are 257,377 people with at least one vaccine dose, and 215,580 people who are fully vaccinated.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,357 confirmed resident cases and 1,384 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 49,009 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 462 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,190 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
