The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 339 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 33,084 in Camden County today and 833 total fatalities.
“Over the last seven days, we are averaging approximately 290 new cases of COVID-19 per day, an 11 percent increase from Jan. 1,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.
“While this surge hasn’t appeared to hit our community quite as hard as the post-Thanksgiving spike, no one should feel good about where we are with regards to viral activity. New Jersey set new records this week for daily cases, and 158 lives have been lost in Camden County in just the last 30 days. Please continue to treat this pandemic with the caution it deserves. Wear a mask, wash your hands, and social distance.”
Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.
In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,138 confirmed resident cases and 1,153 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 33,084 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 417 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 833 total fatalities countywide.
The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
