Last month, Rite Aid expanded its COVID-19 testing sites with new locations throughout the country, including at its store in Barrington Borough, located at 501 Clements Bridge Road.
Effective immediately, Rite Aid is changing its testing criteria at all testing sites to include adults who are not exhibiting any symptoms of coronavirus, according to a release issued by Camden County on Friday.
The site is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week, and testing is offered at no charge. Patients are still required to provide government issued identification, be at least 18 years old, and need to pre-register online at www.riteaid.com in order to schedule a time slot for testing.
“Expanding COVID-19 testing is critical to our response to this pandemic. The ability to start testing asymptomatic adults is an absolute gamechanger for our strategy and understanding of how to combat this virus,” Cappelli said.
“I want to again thank Rite Aid for bringing more testing to Camden County and for continuing to work with our residents to keep them safe and healthy.”
All Rite Aid drive-up COVID-19 testing locations utilize self-swab nasal tests overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists. Testing takes place in the store’s parking lot. As part of the testing process, individuals must remain in their vehicles from the time they arrive and until they depart.
The change in requirements reflects a shift in guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control, for which now considers persons without symptoms a priority for COVID-19 testing. More information regarding the CDC’s guidelines can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/hcp/clinical-criteria.html.
Rite Aid has partnered with Verilyand will use its Baseline COVID-19 Program to provide screening, scheduling, and return of results to participants for Rite-Aid testing sites.
Rite Aid also selected BioReference Laboratories to provide COVID-19 laboratory testing to all drive-up locations with the goal of flattening the curve through accessible diagnostic testing.
Clinical oversight for the COVID-19 testing program is provided by PWNHealth, a national clinician network that enables safe and easy access to diagnostic testing.
