Join the Santa Quest search party at Rancocas Nature Center

The second annual Santa Quest event will take kids on a hunt down the trails of the state park

From Friends of Rancocas Nature Center:

“Santa Claus had such great fun last December seeing all the children and adults search for him while he worked out in his kayak to lose weight and fit into his Santa suit, that he plans to return to Rancocas Nature Center again this year,” announced the Center’s Sanctuary Director Susan Buffalino on Saturday. “According to our top-secret insider elf, while Santa Claus has flown around the globe, he’s noticed that many trees are disappearing in some areas… so now he’s on a mission to protect our forests. The elf told us Santa will be checking out the Rancocas forests on Sunday, December 9th!”

“But we’re not sure where! So join us for a holiday family-fun adventure as we search for signs of Santa along the trails at Rancocas Nature Center’s Second Annual SantaQuest from 1 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 9 to find out if Santa will be jogging, hiking, mountain-biking or power-walking through Rancocas State Park,” said Buffalino.

This search-party will track Santa through the woods and find signs of him along the way, such as antlers, hoof tracks, or evidence of gifts along the trail. Last year’s search party found elves hard at work in a gift workshop. Children will also be able to make some edible ornaments for animals using cranberries, popcorn, peanut butter, etc., and will hopefully get a good glimpse of Santa as he passes through the park to check on the condition of the trees.

Searchers should bring a camera or cell phone to document this unique Santa Claus sighting. A campfire and hot chocolate will be waiting for the search party at the Center. To register, call (609) 261–2495 or email [email protected] . Program cost for RNC members: $15/family (limit 5); Non-members: $21/family (limit 5). For this special program, there is no participation without pre-registration, and no rain date, since Santa will need to get back to the North Pole.

There will also be a special Bake Sale to benefit Rancocas Nature Center. Just the treats a sweet tooth craves, especially after the SantaQuest adventure… or for those who wait inside the Nature Center while the searchers find clues.
