Burlington Township man in critical condition after being stabbed by housemate

Perpetrator faces attempted homicide charges, amongĀ others

The Burlington Township Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing on Sunday at an apartment within the Brittany Court section of Chateau Apartments in Burlington Township, NJ.

Officers found a 54-year-old male victim lying on the bathroom floor with multiple stab wounds and lacerations to his face, upper chest, hands and arms. The victim was treated on scene by members of the Burlington Township Police Department, Endeavor Emergency Squad and Virtua Paramedics prior to transport to Cooper University Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Prior to the stabbing, the victim engaged in an argument with housemate William Hines, 34. After some time passed, the victim went to the bathroom to take a shower. While the victim was showering, Hines entered the bathroom and stabbed him multipleĀ times.

Hines fled the scene prior to police arrival, but turned himself into police custody at the Burlington Township Police Station just before 12:00 p.m. Monday. He has been charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently lodged in the Burlington County Jail pending his appearance inĀ court.

The case is being investigated jointly by the Burlington Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutorā€™s Office.
