Burlington Township Council adopts tax abatement for DCT Industrial
Following a lengthy public comment involving community members, the Burlington Township Council adopted a five-year tax abatement with DCT Industrial on second reading at the Sept. 26 meeting. The company’s industrial site plan was approved by the Burlington Township Planning Board on July 13, and was approved on first reading by Council back on Sept. 12. “The abatement allows DCT to pay zero to start,” Burlington Township Administrator Walter Corter said. “Following the first year, DCT will then pay 20 percent each year after for the next five years until the amount is paid in full.” DCT was approved in July for a major site plan to construct two warehouses totaling around 1 million square feet.
Burlington Township Eagle Scout Daniel Kellaway earns Eagle Scout Award in 2017
Daniel Kellaway, 18, has enjoyed being a part of a team since he was 8 years old and first joined the Cub Scouts in Burlington Township. Kellaway crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 764 when he was 11 years old and hit the pinnacle of his career earlier this year. Kellaway earned his Eagle Scout Award, the highest achievement for a Boy Scout. According to Troop 764 Committee Chair Tom Jones, only 6 percent of Boy Scouts obtain the Eagle Scout Award. A boy must earn 21 merit badges, 13 of which are required in areas such as cooking, environmental science, emergency preparedness, first aid, citizenship and others.
High School Sports Roundup: Girls Soccer bounces back, Boys Soccer on good run, and more
The Burlington Township Lady Falcons girls soccer team bounced back in a big way after a tough loss to end last week. Following a frustrating 3–0 division loss to Cinnaminson on Sept. 22, where they forced 14 shots on goal, Burlington Township defeated Holy Cross 1–0. Gabriella Senni scored the game-winner for the visitors, while Kate Field was credited with the assist. Senni leads the team with five goals.
