Deptford Township pedestrian hit and run victim in critical condition

The investigation is active and on-going.

At approximately 6:36 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, Deptford Township Police patrol officers were dispatched to Delsea Drive, between Kohler Avenue and Lexington Avenue, for a report of a male that had been struck by a vehicle. On location, a 33-year-old from Deptford Township was discovered lying in the roadway.

The male victim suffered serious injuries in the collision and is currently listed in extremely critical condition at Cooper University Hospital. The victim was observed crossing Delsea Drive and was struck in the southbound lane of travel.

The operator of the striking vehicle failed the stop. The vehicle was last seen fleeing southbound on Delsea Drive, toward Cooper St. The investigation is active and on-going.

There were several witnesses along with numerous closed circuit surveillance camera systems that captured the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle also left behind several pieces of damaged parts.

The vehicle is described as a small sports utility vehicle, possibly a Ford Escape; white or gray in color. The vehicle appears to be a 2008-2012 model year. The vehicle sustained front-end damage in the collision.
