COVID-19 related deaths in county continue to rise

Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said deaths in Camden County are rising at pace only seen during the spring.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) is announcing 32 new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 219 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 28,207 in Camden County today and 735 total fatalities.

“I am deeply saddened to announce 32 additional deaths caused by COVID-19 in Camden County. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims, their families, and everyone whose family has been impacted by this disease,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “While our daily case totals have leveled off for the time being, deaths in our county continue to rise at a pace only seen during the first wave in the spring. We have to do everything we can to protect our community until a vaccine is widely available to the public. Wear a mask, watch your distance, and celebrate the coming holiday responsibly.”

The Department of Health is announcing 219 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,964 confirmed resident cases and 1,033 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 28,207 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 384 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 703 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.

Residents should also download the COVID Alert NJ mobile application on their Apple or Android device where they can view the latest information regarding COVID-19 in the state and be notified of potential exposures to the virus.
