A 29-year-old Washington Township man faces multiple charges that include his alleged role in leading a narcotics trafficking network, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
The office – with support from multiple law-enforcement agencies in the area and in Philadelphia – executed more than 30 court-authorized search and arrest warrants on March 8 as part of what they dubbed Operation Cold Cuts, according to a press release from the prosecutor.
Brett Carrero is one of 14 people who face multiple charges in connection with the operation and one of five local men charged, according to the prosecutor. Carrero also faces charges that include promotion of organized street crime, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, and computer criminal activity, the prosecutor said.
The search and arrest warrants were the result of a long-term investigation spanning multiple jurisdictions and conducted in close coordination with the Mid Atlantic High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) region, of which the prosecutor’s office and Gloucester County are members, according to the press release.
Through search warrants, law enforcement seized about $300,000 in U.S. currency; 14 firearms; large amounts of cocaine, marijuana, and hashish rosin; 11 vehicles; one motorcycle; four ATVs; money counters; and financial documents, according to the press release.
Four other area men face the following charges:
- Joshua Kristol, 26, Deptford: possession with intent to distribute marijuana, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, conspiracy to distribute marijuana
- Roy Lucas Jr., 28, Deptford: possession of cocaine, conspiracy to distribute cocaine, conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
- Christopher Molina, 24, Washington Township: possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm with controlled dangerous substances
- Alfred Ricci, 25, Washington Township: conspiracy to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute psilocybin.
Acting county prosecutor Christine Hoffman noted that the investigation would not have been possible without partnerships with and contributions by other agencies, including the federal Department of Homeland Security; the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office; and police in Deptford, Washington Township and Monroe.
