GCIT student wins Red Ribbon Week contest

Myla Todd, a 9th grade student in the Health Sciences Academy, is the winner.

School Based Youth Services (SBYS) personnel hosted a Red Ribbon Week slogan contest during the month of October. Students were invited to submit an original slogan or catchphrase that promotes the Red Ribbon Week concepts.

Red Ribbon Week affirms the commitment of those who live a drug-free life and raises awareness of the destruction caused by drugs in America. Red Ribbon Week runs every year from Oct. 23 to 31.

Myla Todd, a 9th grade student in the Health Sciences Academy, is the winner. Todd’s slogan, Choose to Refuse was celebrated during morning announcements where she received recognition for her winning entry. Choose to Refuse was made into a lawn sign, created and donated by Eddie Ferrari, Cooperative Education Coordinator for the GCIT School to Careers department.

In addition to the recognition and having her entry on the lawn sign displayed outside of the GCIT main entrance, Todd received a gift card as thanks for her commitment to promoting Red Ribbon Week.

Congratulations, Myla!
