County logs 11 deaths, close to 900 new cases over last three days

Last weekend until Christmas finds steady number of confirmed cases.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) recorded 11 new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 890 additional cases of the disease confirmed between Dec. 19 and Dec. 21. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 26,186 in Camden County and 703 total fatalities.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 3: MALE 70s, GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP
New Case 4: FEMALE 60s, CAMDEN CITY
New Case 5: FEMALE 90s, VOORHEES TOWNSHIP
New Case 6: MALE 60s, PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP
New Case 7: FEMALE 100s, CHERRY HILL TOWNSHIP
New Case 8: MALE 60s, CAMDEN CITY
New Case 9: MALE 80s, VOORHEES TOWNSHIP
New Case 10: MALE 90s, PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP
New Case 11: FEMALE 90s, CAMDEN CITY

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, as we announce eleven additional deaths in Camden County caused by this insidious pandemic,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“While the post-Thanksgiving surge in cases seems to be slowing, we are losing more lives than we have in months. We cannot afford another surge on top of this in the coming weeks. Please take all precautions this holiday season, including limiting gatherings to your immediate household only, in order to stop the spread and protect your loved ones.”

The Department of Health is announcing 890 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,876 confirmed resident cases and 959 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 26,186 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 368 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 703 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
