The Diabetes Empowerment Education Program, also known as DEEP™, is a curriculum designed to help people with pre-diabetes and existing diabetes as well as their relatives and caregivers gain a better understanding of diabetes self-care.
The program consists of a curriculum that is evidence based and incorporates self-care education guidelines. Classes are held once a week for five to six weeks and are approximately an hour and a half to two hours in length. Managing care with insurance options, such as Medicare, will also be covered.
The first class will take place in the library’s meeting room on April 18 at 10 a.m.
These workshops are being offered in cooperation with Quality Insights, EDC (Everyone with Diabetes Counts) and Quality Improvement Organizations.
This program is free and open to the public.
