Annual Burlington Township Cleanup Day scheduled for April

Environmental commission looking for “block captains”.

The Burlington Township Environmental Commission is looking for “Block Captains” for their 20th annual Burlington Township Cleanup Day on April 13, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Once again, they are organizing on the neighborhood level to help clean up the trash, paper, recyclables and other debris that has accumulated in their neighborhoods.

The environmental commission is also looking for businesses, civic groups, church groups and other organizations to volunteer to clean up large areas (for example: Green Acres Park, Sylvan Lake area, along Routes 130 & 541, etc.).

As a block captain, your duties will be:

  • Distribute leaflets in your neighborhood asking for volunteers (leaflets will be provided).
  • “Sign up” volunteers who respond (name and number of people in family participating for t-shirts and supply count to each location).
  • Distribute bags, gloves and t-shirts to participants

T-shirts for everyone! Post cleanup celebration will take place at Green Acres Park from noon to 1:15 p.m.

  • Hotdogs and sodas for all participants
  • Drawings for prizes donated by local merchants and gift certificates

For more information, to register as a block captain or to volunteer your group or organization, contact Diane Flannery at (609) 387–2775 or email [email protected].
