Burlington Township police charge two with armed robbery

The two men from Blackwood were identified through a three-month-long investigation

The following report is on file with the Burlington Township Police Department:

A three month-long investigation has resulted in the Burlington Township Police Department charging two suspects for committing an armed robbery at the Speedy Gas Station located at 2212 Mt. Holly Road, Burlington.

The investigation began on April 22, when the department received delayed notification of the robbery that occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on April 19. The initial investigation revealed that the gas station attendant was robbed of cash at gun-point and that the two suspects fled the scene in a red Chevrolet Equinox. Detectives were able to determine that a robbery involving similar suspects and getaway vehicle occurred approximately one hour earlier in Eastampton, and that these robberies may be related to other robberies that occurred previously in several jurisdictions in Gloucester County, Salem County, and Camden County.

Through their investigative efforts, detectives were able to identify a 31-year-old man from Blackwood and a 22-year-old man from Blackwood as suspects, with the 31-year-old entering the station and threatening the attendant with the handgun and the 22-year-old waiting outside as the getaway driver.

The 31-year-old has been charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and terroristic threats. He is currently lodged in the Salem County Jail. The 22-year-old has been charged with robbery. He is currently lodged in the Camden County Jail.
