Evesham Township School District looks to combat chronic absenteeism among students

The Evesham Township School District is planning to combat chronic absenteeism among its students during the next two years as part of its district goals for 2017–2019. The ETSD Board of Education approved the goals at its meeting last week, including a goal to “enhance district protocols and procedures” to decrease chronic absenteeism rates wherever possible to positively impact student achievement.

Evesham Police arrest man for allegedly taking pictures on woman in fitting room at Target

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Aug. 9, at 7:41 p.m., officers responded to the Target Store, 751 S. Route 73 for a report of a male who was allegedly taking pictures of a female while she was getting changed inside a fitting room. Police say the victim advised officers that while she was inside a fitting room trying on clothes, she observed a man’s hand holding a cell-phone under the fitting room door.

PILOT agreement approved for future apartments at Shoppes and Residences at Renaissance Square

As construction continues along Route 70 at the shopping center once known as Tri-Towne Plaza and now heralded as the Shoppes and Residences at Renaissance Square, township officials continue to defend the use of New Jersey’s Payment In Lieu of Taxes program. While the existing structures at the site undergoing enhancements are subject to standard taxation by the township, council recently approved a 20-year PILOT regarding the residential development project scheduled for the site consisting of 338 apartments.

Evesham Police warn against trend of juveniles riding bikes in the middle of roadways

The following information comes from the Evesham Township Police Department:

It has been brought to the attention of the Evesham Police Department that there have been numerous instances involving juveniles riding their bikes in the middle of the roadway/swerving causing a danger to themselves and the motoring public. Police say they have seen an increase in these types of activities since it was televised as happening in the Philadelphia region.

Evesham Police arrest Camden City man allegedly selling heroin in Evesham Township

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Aug. 15, police say they arrested a Camden City man allegedly selling heroin in Evesham Township. During a proactive undercover operation, police say the male was arrested in an Evesham residential development. As a result of the stop, police say they seized 26 bags of heroin, cash and a vehicle.
