At approximately 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017, the Burlington Township Police Department responded to the area of Sunset Road and Classic Drive for a pedestrian motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that Savanna Gentile, a 29-year-old female from Burlington, NJ, was standing in the lanes of travel of Sunset Road when she was struck by a blue 2011 Chevrolet Cruz that was traveling westbound. Gentile was treated on scene by Endeavor EMS personnel and Virtua Paramedics prior to being airlifted to Cooper University Hospital. Gentile is currently listed in critical condition with a broken leg and severe head trauma.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Gentile remained on scene and cooperated with investigating officers.
This collision is still under investigation by members of the Burlington Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Burlington Township Police Department Investigations Bureau. No charges have been issued at this time. Investigators are attempting to determine why Gentile was in the roadway at the time of the collision, and it is possible that she was arguing with the operator of another vehicle traveling in the eastbound lanes of Sunset Road prior to being struck. That vehicle was described as white in color with an unknown operator.
The Burlington Township Police Department requests that witnesses and individuals with information pertinent to this investigation contact either Traffic Safety Unit P/O David Long at (609)386–2019 or [email protected] or Investigations Bureau Det.
