A house in Mantua Township is being featured on the Travel Channel’s “Ghost Nation” in October.

The show takes longtime paranormal investigators Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango around the country as they respond to urgent calls from local ghost hunters who have reached a dead-end with their residential cases, according to the show’s website.

Armed with ghost hunting technology, the team attempts to track down the reason behind the paranormal activity to restore peace to the household.

In this case, it’s the home of Mantua Township resident Mario Cerrito and his family.

He, his wife Charmaine, son and step-daughter have lived in the house for about three years. During the second year, things got weird fast, according to Mario. His step-daughter kept seeing little girls crying throughout the house, Charmaine saw shadows walk by and his son, who was 2 years old at the time, would point to what he described as “monsters.”

“One time … me and my wife were in bed and we both heard from the outside of the door a little voice say ‘mom,’ and my step-daughter wasn’t home at the time,” said Mario.

From there, the family hired a local paranormal investigator. A Catholic priest blessed the house using holy water. But after it all, the family still witnessed unexplainable activity, which ultimately led the family and investigator to contact the show.

“It got to the point where we didn’t know what to do,” said Mario.

Crew members from the show came out from Los Angeles to perform a few screenings before making the final decision to bring roughly 25 crew members to film in late May and early June.

It took six days for the crew to film the show. During that time, Mario and his family had to stay at his mother-in-law’s house.

Mario said the crew had so much equipment that the show hired a 24/7 guard to keep it secure in the house when the crew wasn’t filming. Mario couldn’t even get his own mail without contacting security beforehand.

“It’s a once in a lifetime experience. … It’s crazy that I’ll see my house and family on TV,” said Mario.

The episode is scheduled to air on Oct. 25 at 10 p.m. on the Travel Channel titled “The Novelist’s Nightmare.”

The season premieres Oct. 11 at 10 p.m. on the Travel Channel.
