On Thursday, June 27, the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters (New Jersey LCV) and the Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA) will be sponsoring a meet-and-greet with Moorestown Mayor Lisa Petriello and Deputy Mayor Nicole Gillespie to discuss environmental topics including stormwater management and flooding as well as the steps the township is taking to address those issues. The event is free and is open to all residents and to the public.
“The recent heavy rainfall and flooding that we’ve experienced has made it clear that communities including Moorestown have significant stormwater management issues that we need to deal with,” said Mayor Petriello. “We’re looking forward to a productive discussion with community members and appreciate the New Jersey LCV and PPA for hosting this event.”
“Given Moorestown’s history with drinking water contamination, our desire to protect and preserve Strawbridge Lake, and the property damage that flooding is causing in our town, managing stormwater runoff and ensuring water quality are top priorities for me,” said Deputy Mayor Gillespie. “We look forward to meeting with constituents to understand how we can best work together to make progress on these issues.”
The event will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Community House of Moorestown located at 16 E Main St. in Moorestown. Refreshments will be served. Participants are asked to RSVP at http://bit.ly/MoorestownStormwater.
