Mayor’s Message: Evesham Township Mayor Jaclyn Veasy reflects on Memorial Day and more recent happenings in town

I encourage all Evesham residents to join me in honoring our greatest heroes and their families who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be safe and free.

Evesham Mayor Jaclyn Veasy has released the follow message outlining recent happenings and events in town:

Memorial Day

As we come up on Memorial Day, I encourage all Evesham residents to join me in honoring our greatest heroes and their families who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be safe and free.

As your mayor, I am especially grateful to these incredible men and women who laid down their life to protect our democracy and our American values.

To the families who bear the grief of this sacrifice, we honor you and your loved one every day and we promise to never forget that freedom is not free.

Council meetings now streamed live

Also, as promised, our live feed is up and running for our town council meetings. I hope you have been able to check out our May meeting.

If not, please go to our township website at www.evesham-nj.gov and check it out. There are a few updates on what has been going on in town.

New Farmers Market launching soon

Evesham residents from different backgrounds have also been coming together to give back to our town.

One example is our Farmers Market Committee, which announced that our first farmers market is launching June 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Marlton Green shopping plaza.

It will be the second and fourth Wednesday sof every month until the end of September.

Veterans Disability Advisory Board to help residents

I was also proud to appoint 14 residents to our new Veterans Disability Advisory Board, which will go hand-in-hand with our Senior Citizen Advisory Board.

I am grateful to all those who have been willing to serve. These boards will ensure that our seniors, veterans and neighbors with disabilities have access to the resources and programming they need and deserve.

Fun in town

We have had lots of great town activities and have a few coming up as well. From A Taste if Evesham to Marlton Day to Pride Day, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy gathering with our neighbors and friends.

One near and dear to my heart is the Relay For Life of Marlton on June 1.

During the last 10 years, Relay for Life of Marlton has raised more than $1 million for the American Cancer Society. Please come out and join us.

Mother’s Day

May has also brought us together to celebrate all our amazing mothers, Happy Mother’s Day. I have been incredibly blessed to have an amazing mother and know how both wonderful and challenging motherhood can be.I am truly grateful for our moms who always put their families first and make our communities better.

Military Appreciation Month

It is also Military Appreciation Month. At a recent council meeting, it was an honor to celebrate all who put on a uniform, both past and present.  Thank you never seems like enough.

Evesham continues to be a top town because of all of you, and I am humbled and honored to serve as your mayor.
