The Oct. 1 event helps to support programs in the community for children with Down Syndrome
Members of the Washington Township Public Schools, including teachers, staff and parents, joined community members at Washington Lake Park on Oct. 1 at the Bringing Up Down Syndrome Buddy Walk.
The event helps to support programs in the community for children with Down Syndrome, including Thomas Jefferson Elementary School students Hannah Parchesky and Allyson D’Ostilio.
“It was truly amazing to see our school district so well represented at this event as we kick off the Week of Respect,” Wedgwood Elementary School fourth-grade teacher Mary Grace Parchesky said. Her daughter Hannah has Down Syndrome.
“The girls are doing so well at Thomas Jefferson,” Bunker Hill Middle School Principal Mike D’Ostilio said of his daughter, Allyson, and Hannah, who were together at the Buddy Walk. “They both had an incredible foundation at Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center with the instructional assistants, teachers and staff. It’s been wonderful watching them grow, become friends and transition to a new, and equally wonderful, school.”
