Mt. Laurel Police ask residents to remain vigilant in light of recent residential burglaries

Police say residences on Knotty Oak Drive and Edinburgh Lane were burglarized on Jan. 2.

The following information is on file with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department:

The Mt. Laurel Police Department is asking residents to remain vigilant in their neighborhoods in light of two recent burglaries at residences on Jan. 2.

Police ask residents to report any suspicious activity, include, suspicious vehicles and suspicious people, by immediately calling police dispatch at (856) 234–8300 or dialing 911 in the event of an emergency.

According to police, one of two residential burglaries took place on Knotty Oak Drive on Jan. 2 at 10:43 a.m.

According to police, patrols responded to the 200 block of Knotty Oak Drive for a report of a burglary in progress.

While collecting trash on Knotty Oak Drive, police say a Mt Laurel Department of Public Works employee observed a male described as being in his mid-20s, wearing a black hat, hooded sweatshirt sweatpants and blue latex gloves exit out of the front door of a residence carrying electronics.

Police say the male was described as running to a newer model gray Honda Civic that was driven by another male and left the area.

According to police, the employee immediately contacted police and attempted to locate the vehicle. Police say the vehicle was last seen on Creek Road heading towards Interstate 295.

According to police, the investigation revealed that the suspects forced entry through a rear door by smashing the glass. After entering, police allege that they stole a computer and miscellaneous jewelry.

Later on Jan. 2 at 6:10 p.m., police say patrols responded to a residence on Edinburgh Lane for another report of a residential burglary.

Police say the victim reported that sometime between 8 a.m. and 6:10 p.m., unknown suspects gained entry to their residence by allegedly smashing a rear family room window.

Police say the suspects then allegedly rummaged through the residence and stole a 55 inch TV, a laptop computer and cash.
