Mt. Laurel Board of Education honors winners of 2016 School Bus Safety Poster Contest

The Mt. Laurel Board of Education used its Nov. 15 meeting to honor the 15 winners of the district’s 2016 School Bus Safety Poster Contest. More than 400 entries were narrowed down to 15 finalists. The winners were awarded with gift certificates and other prizes.

Mt. Laurel Council approves historic marker for Jacob’s Chapel A.M.E. Church

The Mt. Laurel Towship Council has approved a historic marker for Jacob’s Chapel A.M.E. Church. The grounds of Jacob’s Chapel date back to one of New Jersey’s early African American communities of Colemantown. The marker comes as Jacob’s Chapel recently received a grant through the New Jersey Historic Trust for an overall preservation plan at the chapel.

Mt. Laurel man charged by Camden County Prosecutor in suspected fraudulent loan modification

A Mt. Laurel man was charged by the Camden County Prosecutor in suspected fraudulent loan modification deal. The man, of Star Board Way, has been charged with one count of third-degree theft by deception. The man is suspected of taking money from a victim for more than two years, never applying the money toward a mortgage.

One Love Animal Rescue to host pet photos with Santa at South Jersey Animal Hospital on Dec. 10

The Mt. Laurel based One Love Animal Rescue pet rescue is set to host pet photos with Santa Claus at the South Jersey Animal Hospital in Medford on Dec. 10. Santa will visit with his furry friends from 1 to 4 p.m. The $20 cost benefits the non-profit rescue and includes a printed photo in a card photo frame.

Lenape Regional BOE keeps policy barring homeschool students from extracurricular activities

The Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education has decided to keep its policy barring homeschool students from extracurricular activities. After comments against the the policy from the public at the board’s Nov. 16 meeting, the BOE unanimously voted to uphold the policy.
