Weekly Roundup: Cherry Hill schools taking action to remove lead from water outlets, police arrest robbery suspect

Five cross country runners from Cherry Hill high schools also got the chance to compete in the NJSIAA Meet of Champions on Saturday.

Cherry Hill Public Schools announces plan to make water in schools safer

Two weeks after a report showed nine water outlets in five Cherry Hill school buildings had unsafe amounts of lead in the water, Cherry Hill Public School officials released a plan to take additional action. At Tuesday’s board of education work session meeting, Superintendent Joe Meloche announced a new plan where the district would eliminate bubblers in most classrooms, install filtration systems on any sinks where lead was detected and replace all water fountains where lead was detected.

Cherry Hill Police arrest suspect, charge him with multiple gas station robberies

The third time was not the charm for a suspect who attempted to rob a Citgo gas station for the third time this month. Last week, Cherry Hill Police arrested 27-year-old Jason Clevenger of Hainesport and charged him with three counts of robbery, three counts of possession of an imitation firearm and eluding arrest. Clevenger is accused of committing three robberies at a Citgo Station on Route 38 and an additional robbery at a Lukoil gas station on Route 70.

Five Cherry Hill cross country runners qualify for NJSIAA Meet of Champions

Five high school cross country runners from Cherry Hill East and West got a chance to race with the best runners from across the state on Saturday in the NJSIAA Meet of Champions. From Cherry Hill East, Grace Yoon and Sarah Pierce competed in the girls race and Tyler Parsons and Marc Meltzer competed in the boys race. Robert Abrams represented Cherry Hill West in the boys race.

An annual tradition returned to historic Barclay Farmstead this weekend as the farmstead held its annual Holiday House. To celebrate the farmstead’s 200th anniversary, this year’s Holiday House paid tribute to the three families who lived at the house during its history.

Tree lighting, food drive lead holiday events calendar in Cherry Hill

Barclay Farmstead’s Holiday House was the first big event on Cherry Hill Township’s calendar this holiday season. The township is also holding a tree lighting on Dec. 6 and will be collecting canned goods during the holiday season to donate to the Cherry Hill Food Pantry.
