Nagle Tract will not be developed into 100 percent affordable housing

Despite being tight-lipped regarding the township’s affordable housing negotiations, Moorestown Township Council had one update to provide residents at the Monday, Jan. 22, council meeting. Mayor Stacey Jordan informed those in attendance the township is no longer moving forward with plans to develop the Nagle Tract into a 100 percent affordable housing site. “One of our litigators, Pennrose, has approached us, has approached the town and has offered an alternative site that allows us to no longer seek 100 percent on Nagle,” she said. Council could not provide further information regarding the location of the new site due to ongoing litigation.

The Combustible Lemons, Moorestown High School’s FIRST Robotics team, was hard at work on Tuesday, Jan. 23 in the high school’s wood shop. The team was working on building the chassis of their robot as well as the ramp that the robot will utilize during their competitions.

“That’s life with water treatment plants”

A change order had Moorestown Township Council fielding questions about the ongoing Kings Highway Water Treatment Plant project for much of the meeting held in Town Hall on Monday, Jan. 22. The consent agenda resolution passed by council authorizing Change Order №6 in the amount of $79,308.78 provided funding for repairs to a well, relocation of a 12-inch water main, iron sludge removal and additional valves and water piping.Township Manager Thomas Merchel said there were some changes the township could not have anticipated when it embarked on the project. He said when they began digging underground, they encountered some unexpected issues.

MBA hungry to showcase ‘Flavors of Moorestown’

The Moorestown Business Association wants residents to take a taste of local flavors. The first annual “Flavors of Moorestown” will have eateries showcasing dishes at special prices from Sunday Feb. 4 through Friday. Feb. 9. Some 26 restaurants are participating in the nearly week-long event. McGuire said the participating restaurants constitute a diverse array of options “from the fancy to the simple.” Each restaurant has selected a “signature dish” it will offer at a discounted price.
