Last month, a man entered a business in neighboring Cherry Hill and posed as a fire inspector. He is a white male, between 5’8 and 5'9, heavyset with brown hair. The imposter stated he was there to inspect the building’s fire extinguishers and then demanded cash in exchange for the inspection. He is known by authorities to have pulled similar scams in other areas of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan. Anyone recognizing this person should immediately contact their local police department.
Additionally, it should be noted — the only persons authorized in Evesham Township to perform fire inspections are Firefighter/Inspectors with Evesham Fire-Rescue. These individuals will arrive at your business or home in uniform, with identification, and in a marked department vehicle. Also, EFD does not charge for annual fire inspections and will never request payment for any fees while at your home or business. Immediately report any suspicious activity to Evesham Police Department by dialing 9–1–1.
