On Nov. 4, 35 police, firefighters, other first responders, and their spouses and partners received estate planning documents free of charge at a Wills for Heroes event at the Evesham Fire and Rescue building on Main Street.

The event was presented by the Wills for Heroes Foundation, in partnership with the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.

Lawyers from Ballard Spahr and from the legal departments at Subaru and Wawa, Inc., volunteered their services to provide free wills, living wills, and health care and financial powers of attorney.

Ballard Spahr has worked with Wills for Heroes for several years to provide these essential legal documents for free to active and retired first responders and their spouses and partners, to ensure their legal affairs are in order in case tragedy strikes.

Wills for Heroes, a national nonprofit, was created after hundreds of emergency responders died in the wake of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
