Evans Elementary starts Memorial Day weekend with surprise welcome for member of U.S. Air Force
On the Friday before Memorial Day, the students and staff of Evans Elementary School held a surprise Memorial Day “welcome home” event to honor Lt. Col. William Wallis of the U.S. Air Force. Wallis believed he was going to the school to speak about his service and the meaning of Memorial Day.
Evesham and State Police respond to suicidal male in Nieuw Amsterdam Apartments
On May 24, at approximately 9:31 a.m., the Evesham Police Department responded to the Nieuw Amsterdam Apartments, 37 N. Maple Ave Marlton, for a suicidal male. Police say the apartment building was evacuated, a perimeter was established and the New Jersey State Police Teams Unit was summoned to the scene. After approximately seven hours of negotiations, Evesham Police say the NJSP Teams Unit was successful in safely removing the subject from the apartment.
Annual Kiki Open Scholarship Golf Tournament fundraiser returns July 18
This summer will mark 25 years of golfing for a good cause with the 25th Annual Kiki Open Scholarship Tournament on July 18. Dedicated members of the community hold the tournament each year to fund high school scholarships in the name of former Lenape Regional High School District Superintendent Kereazis Kiki Konstantinos, who served as superintendent of the district from 1963 through 1993.
Evesham Police arrest six during recent sobriety checkpoint on May 16
The Evesham Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on May 16 on Route 73 by Center Boulevard. During the four hours the checkpoint was in operation, police say they sent 122 vehicles into a secondary assessor’s area. During this operation, police say four drivers were arrested for driving while intoxicated and two were arrested for possession of narcotics.
Complaint about erratic driver leads Evesham Police to arrest suspect for possession of heroin
On May 21 at 8:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Barton Run Boulevard for a report of a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner. An officer located the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Barton Run Boulevard. During the investigation Evesham Police K-9 Ciko was called upon to assist officers with the detection of narcotics.
