Medford school employee faces child porn charges

A 24-year-old computer technician in the Medford school district faces multiple child pornography-related charges after an investigation determined he was blackmailing young girls he met online into sending him nude images of themselves, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw.

Bryce Berger of Delanco was charged with production of child sexual abuse material; possession with intent to distribute child sexual-abuse material; and obscentiy to a minor, among other charges, according to the prosecutor. He was arrested Sept. 19 during the execution of a search warrant at his residence. He remains at Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.

Multiple electronic devices were seized at Berger’s home and will be examined by detectives from the prosecutor’s office. Investigators believe his alleged victims range in age from about 12 to 17 years old, the prosecutor said.

Berger’s school position is non-instructional, and he was not around students in an unsupervised capacity, according to the Medford district. It is not believed at this point that any of the victims were students at the school, according to the prosecutor.

The investigation began after the prosecutor’s office received information about Berger’s online activities. It revealed that he allegedly used an online app to request and receive nude photos from the underage girls, then threatened to post those images if they didn’t send him additional pictures. Berger also allegedly sent related images to another person.
