The Church of the Incarnation’s Knights of Columbus will host a St. Patrick’s Day dinner and social at the church’s Kernan Center on Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m.
The event is open to the public and does not require church membership. Proceeds will benefit charities of the Knights of Columbus.
“This is an event that we sponsor, and it helps with providing proceeds for our charities,” said past Grand Knight Bill Madgey. “We have a really good time at the event.”
The dinner and social is expected to draw about 130 to 150 people, according to Madgey, and will feature a variety of activities. Food that includes ham and cabbage will be provided along with drinks. A DJ will provide music and there will also be a 50/50 raffle.
The Kernan Center will be decorated in green and dressing in that color is encouraged.
“The event is a way to interact with our parishioners and support the community, along with our charities,” Madgey noted. “We will have door prizes and things like that. We fund various charities and 100% of our proceeds go towards them.”
Knights of Columbus charities include disaster relief agencies, the Ukraine Solidarity Fund, the Persecuted Christians Fund and Coats for Kids. Anyone interested in donating to a charity of their choice can check out the Knights of Columbus website.
Locally, the the Incarnation Knights of Columbus branch offers high-school and college scholarships for Gloucester Catholic High students.
The church’s Knights of Columbus last hosted a St. Patrick’s Day event many years ago. It also hosts other activities, including the annual seniors Christmas breakfast.
Tickets for the dinner and social must be purchased in advance to reserve a table. They can be purchased either at the Church of the Incarnation’s parish office or by contacting Madgey at (856) 237-3852.
Other information on ticket prices can be found at the event’s Facebook page, which can be accessed through the Church of the Incarnation’s profile on the site.
“I think it’s a great event,” Madgey said of the St. Patrick’s Day dinner. “It helps us give back to the community and gives us a way to interact with both them and our parishioners.”
