Temple Beth Sholom Hazak will hold its closing luncheon of the season on Thursday, June 15, at noon.
At the luncheon, Hilde Kleinfeld Harper will present, “Theater and the Jews — In the Beginning.”
Hilde Kleinfeld Harper delves into the history of theatre and what theatre has done to advance Jews and Jewish Culture. The survey begins with the Golden Age of Greek Theatre; continues through 16th century Amsterdam to the spread of theatre across Europe and Russia, then glimpses at the Purimspiel, Sarah Bernhardt and Molly Picon including the emergence of Yiddish Theatre and professional theatre in New York City.
