Central Early Childhood Center lockdown

A message from Acting Chief of Police, Joseph Smith:

On Nov. 3, at 10:32 am, a 911 call was received from the Central Early Childhood Center due to an emergency alarm activation. The alarm resulted in a precautionary lockdown of the school. Deptford Township Police officers responded to the school within seconds of the call.

A complete and thorough search of the interior and exterior of the building was conducted and we were able to account for the safety of every student and employee. It was determined that there was no security breach at the school, nor any specific threat. The reason for the alarm activation is under investigation at this time.

The Deptford Township Police Department is extremely pleased with the actions of faculty and staff at the school, and we value our relationship with the school district.
