Tai Chi for Health: Ages 18 years and up. 4 to 5 p.m. at the Mount Laurel Library. Certified instructor Bob Stanton teaches tai chi, a gentle exercise that can improve muscle tone, flexibility, and coordination. This class can be done seated or standing. Drawing Club: Ages 5 to 10 years. 5:30 p.m. at the Mount Laurel Library. In this class participants will learn them how to draw marine life such as an octopus, school of fish and turtles. Registration is required at www.mtlaurel.lib.nj.us.

Lego Club: Ages 5 to 10 years. 10 a.m. to noon at the Mount Laurel Library. Join Mount Laurel’s own Vivian J. as she demonstrates that while Legos are toys, children can develop their creativity and skills like problem-solving through them. Vivian will give a brief introduction about herself and her team, as well as introduce different Lego buildings and explain the benefits of building with Legos. Kids will then learn building techniques like stacking, and interlocking before the activities begin. There will be some competitions and time limits Once the time is up, everyone in the room will vote on who’s build is their favorite, and the top 3 Lego builds will receive a prize. Giant Candyland!: All ages. 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mount Laurel Library. Join the library staff for a unique game night for all ages. The library meeting rooms have been transformed into the board game “Candyland” where participants are the game pieces. Giant Candyland games are first come, first served and begin every few minutes with the last entry at 7:30 p.m. No registration required.

Musicals: Hairspray: Adults 18 years and up. 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mount Laurel Library. The theatrical hit based on John Waters’ 1988 comedy. In Baltimore in 1962, Tracy Turnblad (played by Nikki Blonsky) dreams of dancing on “The Carny Collins Show,” but faces several roadblocks in her way. Supporting their daughter’s efforts are her parents, Wilbur (Christopher Walken) and Edna (John Travolta). The cast also features Michelle Pfeiffer, Zack Efron and Queen Latifah. The films runtime is 116 minutes and it is rated PG for its mature themes. This event will be hosted by Irv Slifkin. No registration required.

Teen Volunteer Newspaper: Ages 10 to 17. 3 to 4 p.m. at the Mount Laurel Library. Teens are invited to join in on the production of a publication created by and made for teens. Participants will meet in Discord and create in Canva. Minimum age for Discord is 13, so any participants under this age will need their parents or caregiver to set up their account. Registration is no longer required.
Monday, Aug. 5
Move and Groove: Ages 18 months to 5 years. 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Mount Laurel Library. Join in for this weekly outdoor event where participants will be able to celebrate music through rhymes, songs, and dance-alongs. This program will give kids a chance to learn new dance moves and get active. No registration required.

Mah Jong: Ages 18 years and up. 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mount Laurel Library. Mahjong is a popular tile-based game of strategy and skill. Some experience is recommended for this event. Participants may bring a National Mahjong League 2023 card and a mahjong set. No registration required.
