Amenities galore at township’s Connolly Park

Over the last two decades, Connolly Park has evolved into a popular gathering place for the Voorhees Community. Located along Centennial Boulevard, this 49-acre oasis, acquired by the township in 2001, includes a half-mile lighted walking and jogging track with one workout station that has a circuit of eight pieces of equipment.

There are two picnic pavilions and one gazebo. All three have six covered picnic tables. One pavilion is next to the playground and one is next to the cricket pitch. The covered gazebo is next to the great lawn and dog park. We added four new park benches inside the dog park in 2022, which also has picnic tables.

There are two playgrounds with swings at Connolly, one of which was a community build.
The workout station, and the two picnic pavilions were purchased with the help of the Camden County Recreation Facilities Grant. A community playground was installed in 2010 and new picnic tables have been added. A couple of years ago, the open-air picnic pavilion on the upper level adjacent to the community playground was enlarged, providing protection from the sun and rain. The pavilion nearest to the Cricket Pitch was rebuilt in 2022 thanks to a county grant.

Connolly offers two enclosed dog runs, one for large dogs and one for small dogs, with nearby water fountains and pet waste bag dispensers. The park is open every day from dawn until dusk. To ensure the safety of our residents enjoying Connolly Park and throughout our community, Township Ordinance 92.21 mandates that no dog or cat shall run at large. Dogs must be on a leash and controlled while walking to and from the dog park. Ordinance 92.22 requires that the dog’s owner must be able
to control the animal when on a leash.

Dogs are not permitted to run free anywhere in the township except when in the gated dog parks and only when accompanied by their owners. If dogs or cats are seen roaming unattended, call the police non-emergency number at (856) 428-5400. If the animal appears dangerous or poses a threat, call 911. All dogs and cats in Voorhees must be licensed. For information about such licenses, contact the township clerk at (856) 429-7757 or visit our web page at voorheesnj.com.
