Tips on summer safety

Mantua is offering tips to residents on how to stay safe for the rest of summer, among them staying hydrated and wearing sunscreen. Other tips offered are:

  • Keep an eye on kids: Children should be watched carefully whether swimming, playing at a park or just being in the heat.
  • Heat safety: Avoid overly strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day, typically from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors.
  • Be cautious with hot surfaces: Pavement, sand and car seats can become extremely hot in the summer sun, potentially causing burns. Wear appropriate footwear and use towels or covers to protect skin from hot surfaces.
